The company provides mail contractor services for the United States Post Office (USPS). The company is contracted to move mail and mail supplies between Santa Barbara and Ventura USPS Processing & Distribution Center(s) to and from post offices within the same counties. While the USPS employs postal carriers to deliver mail to residences and businesses throughout the country, the transportation of the majority of mail between post offices is contracted out to third party contractors. Two of the contracts are through March 2018 and two are through June 2019. According to conversations with the Contracts Division of the USPS and the company's Office Manager, the USPS provides the existing contractor every opportunity to maintain the contracts as they expire and it is rare that contracts will be awarded to someone else. However, the buyer should do its own due diligence with the post office to assess. The selected buyer will need to qualify to assign the existing contracts as part of due diligence. It is the company's understanding that the buyer of the business is not required to have direct mail contract carrier experience with the USPS. However, the USPS representative did suggest that they would require a prospective buyer to demonstrate active freight or transportation experience as a requirement to assign the contracts. THEREFORE, ONLY BUYERS WITH ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION RELATED EXPERIENCE SHOULD INQUIRE.
